It used to be possible for industry leaders to remain in glass cabins over seeing assembly lines that inducted new techniques and agents everyday – new material, adhesives, fitting methods all arrive as novelty and gets assimilated into the process tipping the scales of productivity.
It was then sufficient for the leader to look at the metrics without applying too much thought to the technology on the shop floor.
But the incorporation of AI agents is to look to deploy a universal machine – something that would potentially be able to manage the development pathways of technological lines of production without a convex domain of production problems. This is the ultimate management machine (something that Stafford Beer did as a management consultant).
This management machine tries to reconcile multiple production pathways and demand absorption pathways without making an original thought for itself – in an unextended manner, it is able to realize a motive force that causes these otherwise mechanical extended components to move about in a coordinated manner. It is like the mind of the firm (the unextended concept due to Descartes).
That is why it is important that the highest echelons of management pay concentrated attention to it these times.
